Cook Up a StormThe movie (Clash of the Culinary Gods) tells the story of two young and talented chefs..
Cook Up a StormThe plot of the movie can be summarized as follows:
    • Gao Tian Ci and Paul Ahn’s rivalry. Gao Tian Ci is a famous chef of southern-style Chinese cuisine; Paul Ahn is a Michelin-starred Korean chef who studied in France. The reasons for both of them to rise up the kitchen ladder are different: Tian Ci trained under his master for twenty years with the desire to prove himself, after his father Gao Feng abandoned him and treated him badly when he was ten years old. Paul, on the other hand, decided to open his own restaurant in Hong Kong after making a successful career in Europe to fulfill his promise to his deceased father and become a great chef.
    • The arrival of Li Management Group. In an old Hong Kong district where Tian Ci works at Seven Restaurant, the Li Management Group begins buying property and makes plans to develop Paul’s restaurant, Stellar.
    • Competition and cooperation. The opening of Stellar poses a threat to Tian Ci, and the two chefs begin competing in the markets to find the best ingredients and protect their customers. Stellar’s slender high-rise kitchen poses an aggressive urban renewal threat to the neighborhood, while also endangering traditional Chinese cuisine.
    • Culinary Competition. Tian Ci and Paul carry their rivalry, which started with a fish fight, to the 7th International Culinary Competition. Here they encounter a French, Indian, Japanese chef and Mei You.
    • Confronting the father. Tian Ci aims to gain his father’s approval by beating him in the competition.
The film can also be considered as a success story told through competition in the kitchen.
