    Original Damascus Dessert Recipe:
    Materials:
    • 3 cups of semolina;
    • 1 egg;
    • Half a glass of yoghurt;
    • Half a glass of sunflower oil;
    • Half a glass of granulated sugar;
    • 1 pack of baking powder;
    • 1 pack of vanilla;
    • Half a glass of peeled peanuts.
    For the sherbet:
    • 2.5 glasses of water;
    • 3 cups of granulated sugar;
    • Juice of half a lemon.
    How to make:
    1. In a deep bowl, beat the eggs and granulated sugar with a mixer for 2-3 minutes.
    2. Add sunflower oil and yoghurt and beat for another 2-3 minutes.
    3. Finally, add semolina, baking powder and vanilla and mix without over-beating.
    4. Let it sit for about 1 hour.
    5. Grease a 24 cm baking dish with margarine.
    6. Transfer the mixture you prepared into the mold and flatten it with the back of the spoon.
    7. Decorate it with peanuts.
    8. Preheat the oven to 150 degrees and bake in a cold oven for about 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
    9. To make the sherbet, boil water and sugar over low heat for 10 minutes, add lemon juice and boil for 1 more minute.
    10. After the dessert comes out of the oven, wait for the first heat to disappear.
    11. Pour the warm syrup over it.
    12. After making the syrup, put it in the refrigerator and leave it for 1 night.
    Tips:
    • A teaspoon of baking soda can be added to make the mortar softer.
    • If the consistency is watery, semolina should be added little by little.
    • The oven must be preheated so that the dessert bakes evenly.
